Hytera SC880 5G Body Camera
A 4K body camera on 5G. Records the scene at full resolution on the device while a compressed stream reaches the control room at the same time. 300 seconds of pre-event recording, and a battery you can change without stopping the recording.
Supplied and configured for use across the GCC

Overview
What the SC880 does
The flagship of the range. It records 4K to internal storage and, using dual-stream, sends a compressed feed to the control room over 5G at the same time, so nothing is traded away to get a live picture.
The battery is replaceable mid-shift and a bridge cell holds the camera up for three to five minutes while you change it. A USB 3.0 Type-C port clears 40 GB of evidence in about two hours.
Where it fits best
- Command-led operations that need a live 5G picture
- Investigations where 4K detail decides the case
- Long shifts where the battery has to change mid-duty
- Customs, borders and airport teams working to a control room
- Fleets already running Hytera radios and PTToC

Questions
Before you specify the SC880
Questions we are asked about this model.
Does the SC880 record 4K and stream at the same time?
Yes, and that is the point of it. Dual-stream technology writes 4K to the camera’s own storage while a compressed 720p feed goes to the control room over 5G. You are not choosing between evidential quality and a live picture, which on most cameras you are.
What does 5G give me that 4G does not?
Headroom. A 4G camera can carry a usable live feed, but it is working near its limit once several officers stream from the same area. 5G’s higher bandwidth and lower latency mean the picture holds up when a whole team is streaming at once, and it leaves room for the 4K file to upload behind it. The camera falls back to LTE where 5G has not reached.
Can the battery really be changed without stopping?
It holds the camera up for three to five minutes while you swap the main cell, so the recording does not end and the file does not split. The battery latch is designed so it will not dislodge in a 1.5 metre drop, which is the failure mode that makes hot-swap useless in practice.
How is footage protected on this model?
Hytera publishes digital signature verification and hash value generation in both transmission and storage, so a file that has been altered after capture can be shown to have been altered. That is a different mechanism from the AES-256 on-device encryption the SC580 and the Xignal models publish. If your tender specifies an encryption standard by name, send us the wording and we will confirm the SC880 against it before you specify it.
How long does offloading a full shift take?
The USB 3.0 Type-C port clears about 40 GB in two hours. In practice you would not watch that happen: the camera goes into a dock at the end of the shift, charges and offloads in one action, and is ready for the next one.
Is the SC880 overkill for private security?
Often, yes, and we will say so. If your officers work a fixed site with Wi-Fi and nobody watches a live feed, the M508 or the V200 does the job for a fraction of the cost. The SC880 earns its price where a control room acts on the picture while the incident is running, or where 4K detail is what makes the footage usable as evidence.

What the rules ask
The SC880 Against Common Requirements
The rules differ by country, but they ask the same things of the footage: that it can be shown to be unaltered, that only authorised people saw it, and that the people recorded were told. They also tend to reach further than buyers expect, covering inspectors and contractors working for a public body as well as police.
No camera answers all of it on its own. What follows is each requirement, and the part of the system that meets it.
- Encrypted, tamper-protected storage: AES-256 applied on the device as footage is written
- Retention managed to policy: configurable retention rules on a private server you control
- A register of authorised users and access levels: roles and permissions in evidence management
-
No copying to personal devices: extraction runs through the dock, with no removable-media
path off the camera - Sharing only on written approval: every share carries an approval record and an audit entry
- People must be told they are being recorded: front-facing indicator and pre-record announcement
- Training before officers are deployed: an obligation that sits with the deploying entity rather than the hardware
